My sister-in-law saw my paint job and said 'you're not cutting in with a good brush, are you?'

She was right, I was using a cheap 2-inch brush from the hardware store and my lines were always fuzzy. I went out and got a good angled sash brush for about $22 and practiced on some trim in the garage. The difference is crazy, my edges are so sharp now! Has anyone else found that one better tool made a huge change in your finish work?

Twenty-two bucks for a brush? That's a serious upgrade.

Imagine spending that much on a brush and it still leaves paint streaks on the wall. My two dollar one does the same thing, just with less guilt when I throw it out. That's not an upgrade, that's just paying extra for the same mess. I'd rather buy a cheap brush and a decent burger with the leftover cash.

Hold up, you were trying to cut in with a regular two inch brush? That explains the fuzzy lines right there. That's like trying to write your name with a brick. A good angled brush is the only tool for that job, the cheap ones just can't hold a clean edge. Twenty-two bucks is a fair price to stop hating your own trim work.
