I just counted all the leftover paint cans in my garage and the number shocked me.

I was cleaning up after a trim job last weekend and decided to line them all up. There were 27 half-empty cans, mostly from different rooms over the last five years. I guess I never threw any out because I always thought I'd need a touch-up, but most of them are for colors we don't even use anymore. It's a huge waste of space and probably a fire hazard sitting next to my water heater. Has anyone found a good way to safely get rid of old latex paint, or do you just bite the bullet and take it to the hazardous waste drop-off?

My garage had 23 cans before I caved. The drop-off fee felt like paying for my own bad choices. Now I just have a very empty, very expensive corner.

Hazardous waste drop-off is the only real way.
