I always used regular spackle for drywall patches, but a $15 tub of setting-type joint compound made the job so much faster.

Man, I get that completely. The regular stuff takes forever to dry, especially on a bigger patch. You end up just standing there, waiting to sand and do another coat. With the setting type, you can mix a batch, slap it on, and it's ready to sand in like an hour. It totally changes the pace of the whole job.

Wait, you can sand it in just an hour? @john430, are you serious? I've been wasting whole days with that other stuff drying.
