Visited a pro haunted house last weekend and their fog machine setup blew mine away - but they use mineral oil and I'm team glycerin
So I went to that big haunted house they do every year in Salem, the one that takes over the old warehouse district. Their fog machines were going nonstop for like 8 hours straight and the fog was super thick and hung low to the ground. I asked the guy running it what they use and he said straight mineral oil. I've always used glycerin and water because I heard mineral oil leaves a nasty film on everything and is bad to breathe. But honestly their setup looked way cleaner than mine. No oily residue on the floors or walls that I could see. Now I'm wondering if I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Has anyone actually compared both in a real party setting? Like which one bugs your guests throat less?

Did you notice any difference in how long the fog lingered or how it smelled compared to your glycerin mix? Honestly I've heard mineral oil can leave a weird slick feeling on skin and clothes even if you don't see it, did the guy mention anything about cleanup or ventilation they had to deal with? Ngl I've been tempted to try it myself but I'm worried about my guests with asthma or allergies reacting to the oil particles.

@victorcoleman Tbh I used to swear by glycerin but this mineral oil stuff actually felt cleaner.
