Pro tip: Double check your heat exchanger voltage before you wire it up

I was dead set on using a 240V element for my fog machine build because I thought more power equals more fog. Last month at a Halloween party supply shop in Dayton, the guy there showed me his 120V setup that was cranking out just as much vapor. He explained that the pump flow rate mattered more than the heat, and that changed my whole approach. Now I'm running a 120V heater block I got for $15 at a surplus store and it works perfect. Has anyone else found that lower voltage setups actually last longer?

Honestly I'm kind of skeptical that the lower voltage itself is what's making them last longer. More likely you just got a better built heater block that wasn't a piece of junk to begin with. I've seen 240V elements run for years in commercial units if they're decent quality. The whole "more voltage equals more wear" thing feels like one of those internet myths that sounds good but doesn't really hold up when you actually test it.

Did you notice any difference in reliability with the lower voltage?
