I finally calculated how much I spent on cheap heating elements before buying a good one
Came to $140 over two years. That's four different Amazon specials that either burned out, corroded, or just never got hot enough. The good one cost me $45 and has lasted through three Halloween parties so far. Should have just done that from the start. Anyone else keep a running tally of their fog machine mistakes?

Did you actually test the cheap ones with a multimeter to see if the resistance was way off, or just swap them out blind?

Could be the cheap caps were counterfeit and not even the value printed on them.

Bet the cheap ones had undersized wire inside so they kept burning up at the connection points while the good one is properly rated for the current draw.
