That guy at the Goodwill bins who laughed at my rusty toolbox
Was in the Goodwill bins last Saturday in Portland digging for a cheap dresser to refinish when this older dude looked at my rusty old toolbox I brought along. He goes 'you're gonna need more than that to fix that piece of junk' and pointed to this scratched up nightstand I had found. Told him I fixed a wobbly table last week with just a hammer and some wood glue from Dollar Tree and he just shook his head. Anyone else run into people who think you need fancy tools to do basic fixes?

Read somewhere that a lot of those old-time fix-it guys think you need a whole workshop to do anything. Seems like they just forgot how to make do with what you got. A hammer and glue can get you pretty far if you know what you're doing.

Oh man, @anna_hill you're onto something. I've fixed a squeaky door with just a butter knife and some candle wax. All those fancy clamps and vices, half the time you can just use your body weight and some old towels.
