Just dropped $40 on a can of that fancy spray paint for furniture and it orange-peeled worse than the dollar store stuff I usually grab
I figured paying more meant better results for refinishing that oak nightstand but the finish came out bumpy and rough so now I'm sanding it off wishing I'd stuck with the Rust-Oleum that's never let me down, anyone else get burned by overpriced aerosol paint?

Ain't that always the way, the expensive stuff just loves to show off its bumps?

Oh man I feel your pain, that orange peel texture is the worst! I tried that same expensive can for a dresser and it came out looking like sandpaper. What actually worked for me was warming the can up in a bowl of hot water for like 5 minutes before spraying and then doing super light dusting coats instead of trying to get full coverage in one pass. I also started shaking the can for a solid 2 minutes straight after the hot water bath and that made a huge difference. The cheap stuff is actually way more forgiving because it dries slower and lets the paint level out. Now I just stick with the Rust-Oleum and use a spray handle attachment to save my finger from cramping up.
