Warning: wasted $45 on a no-sew fleece toy kit that fell apart in 10 minutes

I bought one of those no-sew fleece kits from a craft store online for $45 thinking it would be a quick project. The precut fleece strips were too short to knot properly and the whole thing unraveled before my pup could even tug on it. Has anyone else tried those kits and just ended up with a pile of fuzzy strings?

I read a review that said the strips are about an inch too short for any real knot.
