Visited a pet shelter in Portland and saw their rope toy system
They had this wall of donated jeans cut into strips and braided into tug toys. The dogs went nuts for them way more than the store-bought ones. Anyone tried denim rope toys before?

Did they mention if the denim was washed first or anything? Seems like that would affect how much it frays.

Huh, that's really interesting. Did they say anything about how they prepped the denim so it wouldn't fray into little threads the dogs could swallow? I've always been nervous about that with homemade fabric toys, but if they figured out a way to make it safe, that would be awesome. My dog loves to shred anything fabric, so I'm guessing those would be gone in about five minutes flat.
