Tried fleece strips instead of braided rope for a tug toy
I made tug toys for my terrier mix using braided cotton rope for about two years. They always frayed into a mess after a week and left little threads all over the carpet. Switched to cutting up old fleece blankets into strips and braiding those instead. The fleece holds up way longer, like three weeks before he shreds it apart. It's also softer on my hands when we play tug, no more rope burn. Only downside is the fleece sheds some fuzz at first, so I wash it once before giving it to him. Has anyone else tried a different material that worked better than fleece?

Fleece is king honestly. Denim didnt work at all for me.

Have you tried washing and drying your denim jacket a few times to break it in, @nathan_webb? Most people give up on denim too soon without realizing it needs some wear to soften up and stop being so stiff. I used to think fleece was the only option too until I learned to treat denim right with some patience and a couple of hot washes. Once it finally gets that lived-in feel, it drapes way better than fleece ever could.
