My grandma's advice on stuffing dog toys finally made sense

She always said to use old denim scraps as the inner core for rope toys because the fibers grip better. I tried it last month on a braided tug toy for my lab and it lasted 3 weeks instead of the usual 2 days. She died 5 years ago but I swear she was right about this one thing. Has anyone else had luck with denim or other fabric types for stuffing?

Used to think my grandma's tips were just old lady stuff. Tried the denim thing last month and yeah, that tug toy lasted way longer than any store-bought one. She definitely had the right idea.

Tried the denim trick myself a few weeks ago. My dog loved it so much he chewed through the first one in about ten minutes. Guess I should have listened closer when grandma said to use an old pair of jeans, not my favorite pair. Now I know.
