My braided fleece tug toy unraveled in 10 minutes flat
Made a braided tug from old t-shirt strips for my pit mix, and she pulled it apart into separate strands before I even got a photo. The knots I tied at the ends just slipped right off. Anyone got a better way to secure the ends on braided fleece toys?

Wait, hold up - you're actually using a LIGHTER on fleece? Like, a real flame? Isn't that gonna just melt everything into a hard plastic lump or catch the whole thing on fire? I dropped a hot glue gun near my fleece once and it vaporized a hole instantly, so I can't even picture waving a flame at it without destroying it. Or do you just barely tap it, like a split second kiss of the flame? Because my first attempt would probably end up with a melted mess and a burnt smell filling the whole house.

You mentioned the knots slipping off, and that was my problem too until I started melting the ends. I take a lighter and carefully fuse the cut edges of the fleece before braiding, then again on the finished ends, and that seals them up better than any knot. My lab mix has put her tug through a lot more than 10 minutes since I started doing that.
