My buddy called my cable management a rat's nest and I got defensive at first
He came over last Saturday to check out my new ultrawide monitor setup and the first thing he said was 'dude, is that a nest under there?' I spent like 3 hours routing everything behind my desk, using those adhesive clips from Amazon, the whole deal. But when I actually crouched down to look from his angle, yeah it was a mess. All the power bricks were just piled on a shelf and the display cable loop was hanging like a noose lol. It hit me that I've been focused on making it look clean from my seated view but never checked the side profile or what a visitor sees. He showed me a photo of his own desk where he used a simple ikea cable tray for $15 and it looked way cleaner than my system. Has anyone else realized their setup looks good from only one angle?

That cable tray thing is the real deal. I mounted one under my desk a year ago and it hides everything from power strips to the giant wall wart for my monitor, total game changer for like no money.

Pretty sure every tech setup goes through its "one good angle" phase before reality hits. The seated view is a liar, dude. You spend all that time making it look perfect from your eye level but the second someone crouches down or walks around the side, it's like a disaster zone under there. Power bricks are the enemy of clean cable management, they just ruin everything. An IKEA tray is honestly a lifesaver though, those things hide so much junk. At least your buddy didn't take a picture to post online, then you'd really be roasted.
