TIL the person who told me to use a thimble for tiny plant pots was onto something

My coworker Dave from the dish pit said I should use a thimble as a mold for air plant holders on my desk. I thought he was messing with me, but I tried it after a late shift last week. The thimble fit perfectly into a 2-inch clay ring I had lying around, and now I've got three mini pots that actually hold soil. Anyone else ever repurpose random kitchen stuff for desk decor?

Shot glasses work pretty well for tiny succulent pots if you drill a hole in the bottom for drainage. Egg cups are another good option since they're already the right size for small desk plants. Just make sure whatever you're using lets water flow out so the roots don't rot.

I'll second the shot glass idea. Drainage is key for desk plants.
