Did some math on my desk plant setup and it surprised me

I was rearranging my desk last weekend and counted up all the tiny pots and terrariums I've made over the last two years. Turns out I've got 14 different plants crammed into a 3 foot by 2 foot space, which seems wild but they're all small stuff like succulents and air plants. My pothos alone has 8 cuttings that I rooted in a mason jar on the corner, and it's been growing for about 18 months now. How many tiny plants do you guys usually keep on your desk before it feels like too much?

Man I feel this in my soul. I hit 16 once and my wife started giving me looks about the desk turning into a greenhouse. The real kicker was when I knocked over a propagation jar during a Zoom call and had water everywhere. But seriously, 14 in that small space is impressive. I've got a couple of those windowsill shelves from IKEA that hold like 8 tiny pots each, plus another 5 scattered around the monitor stand. The pothos taking over the corner is always the first sign you've crossed the line.

Right but that pothos takeover though... that's the real test of a true plant person isn't it, when your coworkers can see vines creeping into the camera frame and you just pretend it's part of the decor. But here's what I'm wondering, did you ever try to negotiate a deal with your wife like "okay I'll keep it under 12 if I can have the windowsill in the living room too" or did you just have to quietly downsize while she wasn't looking. Those IKEA shelves are a lifesaver but I swear they trick you into thinking you have more space than you actually do, next thing you know you're stacking pots on top of other pots and pretending it's fine. The propagation jar spill got me though, that's a rite of passage I think we've all been through at least once.
