Took me 3 hours to figure out why my pour over tasted like dirt

I was using a $12 ceramic dripper from Target and every cup came out bitter and muddy. Finally realized the grind size on my $30 blade grinder was way too fine for the cheap beans I buy at Aldi. Switched to a medium grind and it went from undrinkable to actually decent. Has anyone else spent way too long troubleshooting something that simple?

Ha! I burnt my tongue on bad coffee for a whole month before figuring that out.

Gotta laugh at ourselves sometimes, right? I did the same thing with this cheap drip machine I bought on sale. Thought I was saving money but the coffee tasted like burnt rubber for weeks. Finally figured out I needed to descale it and use better water. Felt like such a fool when I realized the problem was that simple.
