My salt trick turned bland store brand coffee into drinkable stuff in just one week

I got tired of spending $12 a bag on fancy coffee, so I tried adding a tiny pinch of salt to my cheap Folgers ground coffee before brewing. After 7 days of testing different amounts, I settled on 1/8 teaspoon per 6 cups of water. The salt cuts the bitter taste by about half and makes it smoother without tasting salty at all. My morning cup went from something I choked down to something I actually looked forward to. Has anyone else tried salt or something weird like cinnamon to fix bad coffee?

Started doing this a few years ago when I was desperate to finish off a huge can of cheap stuff someone left at my place. Found out the hard way that too much salt makes it taste like ocean water, which is honestly worse than the bitter coffee itself. Ended up switching to a tiny dash of cinnamon in the grounds instead, which gives it a nice warmth without any weird aftertaste. My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy but he'll drink his fancy cold brew while I sip my dollar store blend with cinnamon (and he's missing out, really).

Love how your boyfriend thinks he's too good for dollar store coffee magic.
