Vent: I used to think disc brakes were overkill for commuters

Saw a video from Park Tool last week where they measured stopping distance on wet rims vs discs. The disc stopped a full 12 feet shorter at 20 mph on a wet road. I've been riding rim brakes for 10 years in Portland rain and always figured I was fine. Has anyone here swapped over and regretted the extra maintenance?

Stopped reading after 12 feet, my arms are too tired to maintain disc brakes on a 10 year old frame.

Try cleaning the caliper pistons first, that fixed a sticky brake on my old Trek.
