Tried fixing a squeaky pedal at the park and ended up with grease on my face

Was at the riverfront trail last Saturday, stopped to tighten my loose pedal with a multi-tool, but the chain slipped and flung chain lube right across my cheek. Had to ride 5 miles home looking like I lost a fight with a robot, has anyone else had a repair go hilariously wrong on the go?

Remember you can always wipe your face with a rag before heading off. A little grease never hurt anyone and just means you were keeping your bike running.

My uncle used to say the same thing about his old Harley, right before he'd ride off with a smudge of grease still on his cheek. There's something honest about that, about not pretending you spend your whole life in a clean office. It's a small thing, but it connects you to the real work of keeping things running.
