That flagstone path I built last month is already sinking in one spot
I put down a 40 foot flagstone walkway through my backyard in August, thought I packed the base good enough. But after two heavy rains last week, three stones near the middle are tilted and one has a 2 inch gap underneath. My neighbor came over and said I should have used 6 inches of crushed gravel instead of the 3 I skimped on. Now I gotta pull up those stones, dig out the soggy dirt, and redo the base with proper drainage. Has anyone else had this happen with their walkway projects?

Three inches of gravel just isn't enough for a heavy walkway like that. The soil underneath is probably silty or sandy too, which holds water and causes settling. A proper base with drainage is the only fix here.
