I finally stopped ignoring my soil pH after a trip to the botanical garden

Went to the Denver Botanic Gardens last Saturday and saw how they test soil right at the entrance. Their pH was 6.8 and everything was thriving. Got home, tested my backyard bed and it was 8.2 - no wonder my azaleas looked sad. Anyone else ever bother with pH testing or just wing it like I did?

Haha my buddy Tim ignored his pH for years and his blueberries never grew a thing.

My hydrangeas went full diva on me last year and I found out my pH was 9.0, I felt like such a plant failure lmao. A bag of sulfur and some patience later they finally stopped acting like they were dying in a desert. Those botanical garden people make it look too easy honestly.
