I ran a side by side test of stacking plates vs staggering them in the lower rack...
Staggering plates got every single one dry with no water pooling on the rims, while stacking left four plates with wet spots after a full heated dry cycle on my 3 year old Bosch last Sunday, has anyone else noticed this difference with their own machine?

Gotta disagree with you here. I've run my Bosch for two years now and stacking plates actually gives me better results, especially with bowls and deeper dishes that trap water. When I stagger them, I find water drips down from the plate above onto the flat surface of the one below, leaving those annoying little puddles right in the center. Stacking keeps the water channeling down the edges and off the plates way more consistently. Plus your example of four wet plates out of a full load doesn't sound like a huge difference to me, maybe your machine's heated dry cycle is just a bit uneven that day. I'd rather have a couple of damp rims than risk rewashing half a load because of standing water.
