Switched from hot rinse to cold rinse and my dishes actually come out cleaner now

I used to run the faucet on hot and give everything a solid 10 second spray before loading. Did that for like 2 years. Last month my coworker told me I was wasting energy and just use cold. I laughed it off. Tried it one night because my water heater was acting up. Now I swear the dishwasher detergent works better with cold. Less spotting too. My wife even noticed. Anyone else have a temp change that worked?

Hot water actually makes proteins stick harder. Cold rinse keeps the detergent enzymes active longer.

Used to swear by hot water but seeing @spencer664's point made me switch for good. Cold rinse plus good detergent is the real combo here, no spots at all now. Did you notice it helping with greasy dishes too?
