I finally broke my favorite cereal bowl because I didn't scrape it well enough first
Last Tuesday I put a bowl with dried oatmeal crust in the dishwasher without scraping it, and the heating element burned the crust into a black rock that cracked the bowl in half, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a dishwasher ruin a dish because of poor rinsing habits.

Mine melted a plastic lid that wasn't fully rinsed.

Yeah a similar thing happened with my Instant Pot lid. I left a paper towel on top once and it practically disintegrated into the vent. Now I always triple check that the rim is bone dry before even clicking the lid on. It's kind of a pain but better than a ruined lid or a mess.
