Saw a guy throw a whole head of garlic in the pan without peeling it yesterday

Garlic skin is not edible, people, peel the damn cloves before you saute them, how many of you out there are just eating papery bits with your pasta?

Wonder if it's actually that big a deal though... I've accidentally left a few papery bits on before and couldn't really tell the difference once it's all cooked down in the oil. Sure, you don't want a whole mouthful of dried skin, but one or two tiny flakes won't kill you.

Wait, @markm27, are you secretly trying to start a new cooking trend called "rustic garlic"? Because I can already see the influencer posts - "crunchy garlic paper adds texture" or whatever. But seriously, you do you if you like potential tiny choking hazards with your roasted veggies.

Heard from my buddy Dave who tried this once. He threw a full unpeeled head of garlic into his tomato sauce and simmered it for like an hour. Said when he finally fished it out, the cloves had turned into this slimy mush that just burst out of the skins when he touched them and got all over his counter. He spent the next twenty minutes picking little papery bits out of his teeth while we were eating. Never saw him do that again.
