Debate: Is it worth buying organic produce or just a waste of cash?

I used to swear organic was just marketing hype, like paying $4 for a bell pepper that tastes the same as the $1 one. But last month I tried organic chicken from a local farm near Austin, and the texture was way different - juicier, less rubbery. Now I'm stuck wondering if it's actually better or if I just want to believe it after dropping the extra money. Anyone else gone back and forth on this and landed on a side?

@sam_anderson that farm chicken thing got me thinking. Did the taste difference make you actually change your grocery habits permanently or was it more like a one time special treat situation? Because I see that line you drew with veggies and wonder if that's just rationalization to make the splurge feel okay.

Doesn't that just prove we're all suckers for anything that feels more "real" these days?

@luna519 that's a fair point lol. But nah, I was a straight up "organic is a scam" guy for years until my buddy made me try his farm eggs and chicken. The taste difference was actually real, not just in my head. Still won't pay extra for organic veggies though, that's where I draw the line.
