That time my neighbor Judy nearly served frozen chicken
I was over at Judy's house last Tuesday helping her meal prep and she pulled a chicken out of the freezer that had been sitting there since 2019. She said 'it's fine, it's been frozen' but I saw the frostburn all over it. I had to talk her out of cooking it for her grandkids' dinner, man some people really don't check dates on stuff. Has anyone else had to rescue someone from old freezer meat?

My cousin Pete tried to feed us a pork shoulder that had a sell-by date of 2017 at a family BBQ last summer and honestly it was fine after I scraped off the icy parts and threw it in a slow cooker with some BBQ sauce for 10 hours. People toss out perfectly good meat way too early because of some white spots on the surface. The USDA even says frozen food stays safe indefinitely as long as it stays frozen, so Judy was technically right even if the quality takes a hit. If her grandkids aren't picky eaters and she cooked it hot enough, they wouldn't have gotten sick.

Ran a freezer burnt brisket through the smoker once and nobody could tell the difference.
