The way I used to layer colors in my digital paintings was just guessing until this one tutorial clicked
Back when I started digital art like 4 years ago, I would just pick a base color and then throw shadows on top with no real plan. It looked okay but flat. My buddy kept telling me to try blocking in big shapes first and then refining. I ignored him for like 6 months. Then last winter I watched a 20 minute video where the artist showed how they sketch the whole composition in grayscale values before adding any color. It felt backwards at first. Now I do that every time. The lighting actually makes sense now instead of me just winging it. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple workflow change made your stuff look way better?

One tutorial fix doesn't mean you cracked the code.
