Remember when digital art was just a bunch of pixelated jpegs?

I was looking at a piece I made in 2008 for a forum avatar, and it was a 200x200 pixel mess. I tried to show it to a friend the other day and the colors were totally washed out. Now, with sites that support 4K and proper color profiles, the same kind of personal work looks completely different on screen. It's wild how much just the display tech changed what we can even share. Anyone else have old files that look totally wrong now?

Watched a friend try to open his old band's album art from 2006. The whole thing was just a blocky, greenish mess on his new monitor. He said the original was a deep purple, but whatever color profile it used just doesn't exist anymore. Kind of sad, really.

Man that's wild. I used to think digital stuff lasted forever, but this shows it can rot just like old paper. Your friend's story makes me worry about all my own photos and art files. What good is saving something if you can't even see it right later on? Makes me want to go print out the things I really care about.
