My shading finally popped after tweaking the blend modes, but my art friend claims it's too bold now.

He says soft looks more pro, I say bold gets noticed, what's your take, lol?

Man, this is the eternal fight in every single creative field ever. Safe and soft gets you approval from other artists who know the rules, but bold and loud is what makes regular people stop scrolling. You see it with office clothes vs streetwear, or basic radio playlists vs someone's weird niche Spotify mix. Going bold is a risk that your art friend's advice is designed to avoid, but safe never built a fanbase.

@noah387's point about stopping scrolls applies to store window displays too.

But what if the loud thing just looks like noise? I've seen store windows so packed with neon and mannequins in crazy poses that you just walk right past. It's too much. Sometimes a clean, simple display with one amazing item makes me stop way more. That quiet confidence can be louder than shouting.
