I finally tried using a textured brush pack versus making my own from scratch
For a recent piece, I spent about two hours trying to create a custom brush for painting fur in Procreate. I got frustrated and bought a $15 pack from an artist I follow. The difference was huge, the pack had brushes that reacted to pressure and tilt in a way I just couldn't figure out on my own. It saved me so much time and made the final piece look way more natural. Has anyone else found a specific brush set that totally changed their workflow for the better?

Honestly, it's about learning from reverse engineering. I'll buy a good pack just to pull it apart and see how they built it. That taught me more than any tutorial. Now I can tweak them to fit my own style.

Back in 2005, I took apart a vintage leather satchel to see its hidden seams. That physical deconstruction taught me about material tension in a way digital files never could. Sometimes you need to feel the structure to truly get it.
