Hit 500 followers on my art account and it felt weirdly empty

I cracked 500 followers on my DeviantArt last night but only 12 people actually comment or favorite anything. That ratio made the milestone feel fake, like I'm just a number in an algorithm instead of someone making stuff people actually see.

Man that ratio hits hard. The numbers feel hollow when nobody actually interacts with the work. It's like having a gallery full of paintings but the lights are off and nobody walks through the door. Really sucks when you put hours into something and the only feedback is a silent number going up. You're making stuff for real people to see, not just to feed some counter. Hope the actual engagement starts matching the follower count soon.

Hell yeah, I think there's another angle here nobody's mentioning. Those other 488 people probably followed you because of one specific piece and then forgot you exist. I see it on my own feed all the time - some random artist posts one cool landscape or character design, I hit follow, then scroll right past their next ten uploads without even stopping. Numbers like 500 are just ghosts in the machine. The real metric is who actually cares enough to see what you make next.
