Switching to a high-protein lunch fixed my afternoon energy crashes in the shop

I used to eat a big carb-heavy meal and would feel sluggish by 2 PM. Started packing grilled chicken and veggies instead. Now I can power through transmissions without hitting a wall. My productivity shot up, and I'm less tempted by junk from the vending machine.

Totally get what you mean about hitting a wall. I've noticed a lot of people have similar wins just by tweaking their lunches, like my cousin who switched to tuna wraps and ditched her afternoon coffee. It's wild how such a simple food swap can steady your energy all day.

My crew started doing this last year after a job site talk about nutrition. We keep a cooler with boiled eggs and Greek yogurt now. @tessaw77 is right, it's about avoiding the crash, not just fighting sleepiness. The steady focus means fewer mistakes on the finishing work. Boss even noticed we get more done in the late afternoon.

Yeah, @tessaw77's point about ditching coffee is huge... it shows how food can replace caffeine for steady energy. I've seen mechanics in my shop switch to hard-boiled eggs or cottage cheese at lunch and they don't get that 3 PM slump anymore. It's all about avoiding sugar spikes that make you crash later... protein just keeps you going without the ups and downs.
