Just picked between a new torque wrench and fixing my old one

My old click-type wrench was off by a good 15 foot-pounds when I checked it, which is no good for head bolts. I had the choice to either send it out for a $90 calibration or just buy a new digital one on sale for $150. I went with the new one because I needed it for a job the next day. It's been a week and the readout is so much easier on my eyes in a dim shop bay. Has anyone else made the switch to digital for their primary torque work, and do you trust it as much as the old click?

15 foot-pounds off on head bolts is terrifying lol, glad you got a new one.

Just saw a forum post where a guy warped his engine block because his old click-type torque wrench was way out of spec. He had it calibrated and it was reading 20 foot-pounds low. That kind of error on something like lug nuts or head bolts is a recipe for disaster. Makes you want to get your tools checked once in a while. Scary stuff.

My mechanic buddy swears by his digital wrench for the accuracy.
