Rolled a nat 1 on a death save last night and flipped my whole mindset

I always thought rolling low was just bad luck, but watching my character drop made me realize failure adds way more drama than a clean win. Now I'm actually rooting for the dice to mess me up more often. Anyone else find themselves leaning into bad rolls for the story?

Bad rolls make the best stories every time. That near death moment sticks with you way longer than a perfect victory lap. Failure is just the DM giving you free drama.

Wait, Seth, you're telling me you actually enjoy when your character almost bites it? I mean, I get the drama angle, sure, but I've had a few bad rolls that literally ended my character's life (RIP my halfling rogue, Gary, who died to a single goblin arrow at level 2). That story still gets told at my table, though, how Gary went from sneaky hero to a pincushion in one round. So yeah, I guess you're right that the failure sticks with you - but I still feel a little twinge of pain every time I think about it.
