My party spent 45 minutes arguing about a locked door last session

We were in a dusty old tomb near the starting village, and the rogue kept rolling 3s while the barbarian wanted to smash it, and the wizard insisted on casting knock even though he had one spell slot left. Has anyone else had a simple obstacle turn into a whole evening of debate?

Laughed out loud reading this because I've been that wizard more times than I'd care to admit. One time I burned a fireball scroll on a stubborn chest lock just to save face after the rogue failed three checks in a row.
