My group's combat used to take 45 minutes per round until I ditched the grid last session

After 3 years of meticulous battle maps, I switched to theater of the mind and suddenly every fight finishes in under 15 minutes because players stop obsessing over exact positioning. Any other GMs made the jump from grids to narrative combat and seen their sessions move twice as fast?

My group went from 45 minute rounds to 15 after I lost the battle map under a stack of pizza boxes.
