Tried low-poly pixel art for my D&D campaign tokens and it totally flopped at the table
I spent like 4 evenings making these super detailed 16-bit style tokens for my group's Curse of Strahd campaign using Aseprite. Got all the shading right on each character, like 32x32 pixels with custom animations for attacks and stuff. But when I put them on the virtual tabletop last week, nobody could tell which blob was the fighter and which was the zombie. Turns out my players prefer the ugly 8-bit tokens I made in 10 minutes because they actually look like what they're supposed to be. Has anyone else had that problem where fancier art just makes things confusing at the table?

Did you run the tokens past anyone before making all 16 of them?
