The moment I realized I'd been holding playing cards wrong for 40 years.
I was at a poker night last week and a guy half my age said 'you're choking the life out of that deck' and showed me how to lightly pinch from the top instead, and my riffle shuffle suddenly became smooth instead of sounding like breaking twigs... has anyone else had some old habit suddenly get called out like that?

Actually you always hold them from the sides, not the top.

Ha, I mean yeah but also no. You're not wrong about the sides thing for sure. But here's the thing though, if you're holding a heavy server rack or a big piece of gear, you're basically hugging it with your whole body. Sides work fine for small stuff like hard drives or switches, but try picking up a 100 pound UPS from the sides and tell me that's comfortable. Plus I've seen people grab the top handles on actual server cases when they're sliding them out of a rack, that's kind of a thing too. So I'd say it depends on what you're moving and how much it weighs. But yeah for normal sized things you probably don't want to be that guy grabbing the top and dropping it.
