Finally figured out why my card springs were always snagging after 3 years of shuffling

Turns out I was holding the deck at the wrong angle the whole time, a guy at a magic shop in Portland watched me for 2 seconds and pointed it out, has anyone else had a basic grip habit totally wreck their technique without realizing it?

You ever notice how this kind of thing happens way more often than people realize? Like, I bet half the stuff we struggle with for years is just some tiny angle or habit we never questioned. It's kind of wild how your brain just locks onto a wrong way of doing something and sticks with it even when it's clearly not working. Reminds me of how I used to tie my shoes wrong for like 20 years until someone showed me the right loop. Turns out I was basically making a knot that loosened itself every time I walked. Little stuff like that can really build up into big frustrations without you ever thinking to step back.

Thought I was above this kind of thing. Like, I figured if I knew how to do something at all, I knew how to do it right enough. Then my kid spent a whole summer slicing apples with the knife at the wrong angle and getting mad the slices were all uneven. Watched a cooking video one night and realized I held the knife the exact same way my whole life. Fixed my grip and suddenly I wasn't sawing through apples anymore. Felt like a real idiot for being stubborn about it for thirty years.
