Driver in Austin told me to trust the GPS over my gut, bad call

My Lyft driver last Tuesday insisted I ignore the shortcut I knew and follow his reroute, which put us 20 minutes deep in stopped traffic by the lake. Anyone else had a driver whose advice backfired this hard, or do I just need to speak up next time?
