I used to just shove earbuds in my pocket until I found out how much lint messes with the mesh

Last month my right earbud started sounding all muffled and quiet. Figured it was dying. Then I actually looked at the speaker grills with my phone flashlight and they were packed with pocket lint. Spent 20 minutes picking it out with a toothpick and a piece of tape and they sound brand new again. Like nobody ever told me that was a thing. Has anyone else had this happen or am I the only one who treated their earbuds like junk?

Last time I pulled mine out of my pocket I thought the same thing - just cheap earbuds losing their sound. After cleaning them with a toothpick I felt like an idiot for replacing my last pair for the exact same reason.

Those little mesh screens trap more wax than youd think. Ever tried soaking them in rubbing alcohol for a few minutes before the toothpick?
