Question about old-school landline features I forgot existed
Last month I visited my mother's house in Cleveland and saw her cordless phone has a hold button that plays music, and it got me wondering if anyone actually still uses that feature in their daily lives.

My grandma had one of those phones and she used the hold music all the time, it was her way of letting me know she'd be right back! I honestly miss that little jingle.

Read somewhere that those hold music features were basically tiny speaker systems built into the base unit - a lot of people just muted the cordless handset instead. @tara_palmer nailed it about grandmas though, my aunt had one and she'd press hold and leave it on the counter while she went to get the mail. The music was just a few seconds of some old instrumental loop on repeat, drove me crazy after a while. Actually saw a vintage phone repair guy on YouTube who still fixes those hold circuits for folks who refuse to upgrade.
