My nephew asked why my smart speaker needed a name at all, and now I use it 4x more
He watched me say "Hey Google" five times in a row while burning pancakes, and goes "why not just make it listen for a clap?" so I set up a clap trigger in the Home app on a Tuesday night. Anyone got other dumb-simple triggers like this? Mine only works if the room is quiet.
Tried the clap thing too and yeah it only works when nothing else is going on, my dishwasher kills it every time. Switched to snapping my fingers instead and it picks that up way better for some reason, less background noise matches a snap I guess. Stomping twice also works but my downstairs neighbor hates me now. The real move is setting up a routine so one trigger does like five things at once, otherwise you're just clapping at a robot all day like an idiot.
