Changed how I carry my laptop after a coffee shop incident

Was at Blue Bottle on Third Street last Tuesday. Guy next to me tripped over my dangling charger cable, yanked my laptop off the table. Didn't break, but now I wrap the cord around the brick before packing it. Anyone else got a trick to keep cables from becoming trip hazards?

Wait did your buddy's laptop actually get knocked off a table by his own cord at a coffee shop? One of my friends had his whole setup crash to the floor that way and now he tucks the cable through his bag strap so it can't swing anywhere.

Three cracked screens and one bent charging port later, I finally learned my lesson like your friend did. @michaela16 tell your buddy he's not alone in that club, I think half of us have donated a laptop to the floor gods because of a stray cord. Honestly, tucking it through your bag strap is genius, I just started wrapping the cord around my leg like a makeshift anchor. Ngl it looks ridiculous but my laptop hasn't taken a dive since.
