Found a trick for writing puns that took me way too long to figure out
I spent about 45 minutes trying to come up with a pun about gardening for a joke I wanted to share at my nephew's birthday party. I kept staring at a blank page thinking 'plant' and 'seed' but nothing clicked. Finally I grabbed a thesaurus and looked up synonyms for 'grow' and 'soil' and within 5 minutes I had three solid puns. Has anyone else found a simple tool like that that cuts down the time they spend crafting jokes?

Oh man, I feel your pain. There's nothing worse than staring at a blank page trying to force a joke out of thin air. That thesaurus trick is actually pretty clever, I might have to steal that one for my own attempts at being funny.

Legit just tried the thesaurus trick on my last post and ended up with a joke about "gastrointestinal distress" instead of just saying my stomach hurt. Nobody laughed, but at least it sounded smart for a second. @lee.diana you're giving me hope there's a method to the madness here. My brain usually just gives me word salad when I'm in a pinch. Honestly, most of my attempts at humor end up sounding like a robot trying to process human emotions through a dictionary. But hey, maybe that's just my personal brand of bad jokes.
