Finally got a pun to land with my 9-year-old, used the literal twist trick
My kid kept groaning at all my jokes but never actually laughing, so I tried telling them right after he asked a question, like he said 'what's for dinner' and I hit him with 'taco bout a good question'. The literal twist is where you take the exact word they just used and flip its meaning, not the setup you planned. Has anyone else found a specific timing or word trick that makes kids actually crack up instead of eye roll?

it's wild how that literal twist works on adults too honestly, like my buddy says he's starving and I go 'well don't eat the couch' and suddenly everyone's laughing, it's just about catching the exact word and flipping it before their brain catches up, kids and grownups both love that moment of surprise
