Why are we so quick to trust every new smart device with our home data?

Lately, I've been in houses with more smart gadgets than people, and it's got me thinking. On one side, folks love the ease of voice controls and app alerts, saying it's the future and keeps things secure. On the other side, I hear worries about these devices spying on us or getting hacked, which seems pretty valid. I've cleaned places where they unplug everything when not in use, and others where the whole home is online all the time. It's like we're handing over our private moments for a bit of help, and no one really knows what happens to that data. Is this just part of modern life, or are we setting ourselves up for big trouble? What do you think - are smart homes worth the risk, or should we pump the brakes?

My smart lock logs every time I come home. Feels like I'm feeding a data monster for the sake of not carrying keys. You're right to be worried about where it all goes.

Totally get that. My own smart speaker gives me side eye sometimes, you know? I unplug mine most days too, just in case.

Seriously, you unplug it most days?
