Warning: my coworker's "genius" password system got us locked out for an hour
So last Tuesday at our tiny office in Portland, my coworker Dave bragged about using the same password for everything but with a twist. He said he just adds the first letter of the website to the end, so like Gmail gets his password with a G. I laughed and said that's basically one step above writing it on a sticky note. Then he tried to log into our shared project tracker and kept getting locked out because the site requires a special character. He spent a full hour typing variations, shaking the mouse, and muttering about how the system was broken. Finally I looked over and his caps lock was on the whole time, so every attempt had two capital letters and the site flagged it as suspicious. Has anyone else had a coworker almost brick a work account with a homemade scheme like that?
